What is the first prerequisite for solving the problem correctly?

It sounds very basic but still so many times we see in interviews ( and also in real life :)) people jump into problem-solving without really understanding the problem and then halfway down the process realise that they are solving something that was not to be solved.

Well-known case interview gaffes 🙂 – Case statement mentions ‘improve profits’ and candidate works on ‘improve profitability’; Case is on ‘coffins’ industry, candidate solves for ‘coffee industry’

A simple technique of Paraphrasing – repeating the problem in own words with the intention of clarifying – can be very effective in this situation.

What more – In interviews, Paraphrasing can also help in many more ways than you imagine. Watch the video for more
